NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: The school Principal shall serve as the educational leader and model of our Choix community,
responsible for the maintenance and integration of the Choix Vision throughout the educational experience of each student.
In order to implement this Vision, the Principal shall be accountable for managing and implementing policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure
that all students are welcomed into a safe, secure and empowering learning environment that satisfies the approved curricula and mission of the school,
as well as national regulations.
The Vision of the Choix learning community requires that our Principal is first and foremost a collaborator with the students in their growth experience as individuals.
To achieve this objective, she or he will guide and nurture all members of the Choix team and be an exceptional communicator with parents and the Mirebalais community.
Inherent in the success of this role are responsibilities for personal and professional development, scheduling, curriculum development,
extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations.

At the beginning of the academic year 2009-2010, we assisted 400 children with an average of 2,000 gourdes each towards their tuition, backpacks, uniforms, and school supplies.
Malnutrition is a significant challenge in Haiti and acute under-nutrition dramatically impedes growth and learning.
To function properly, humans need about 2500 calories per day; however, in Haiti, the average calorie intake is about 1500
or less and 2.4 million people are food-insecure. In collaboration with Zynga, Bureau de Nutrition et Développement (www.bndhaiti.org)
and Kraft Foods (www.kraftfoods.com), FATEM has started a pilot meal program at Ecole Mitsraim de Nivard (Mirebalais).
We are currently providing a nutrient-rich snack every morning to 214 children and school staff now until the end of the year.
Thanks to the generous contribution of Zynga through the FarmVille fund raising campaign (http://apps.facebook.com/onthefarm/seedsforhaiti.php)
and the efforts of Prof. Laura Hartman, (http://works.bepress.com/laurahartman/), Zynga.org's Director of External Partnerships (www.zynga.org)
and DePaul University (www.depaul.edu) and Rob Padberg of Bureau de Nutrition et Développement, beginning with the first day of school in January 2010,
we will be able to provide at least one warm breakfast every day to these children.
The plan is to use the success of this pilot program to secure additional funding for the remaining eleven FATEM partner schools
in the Mirebalais area.

The Mirebalais District of Rotary International has joined forces with FATEM and Senator Edmonde Supplice Beauzile, in an effort to secure funds for the reconstruction project of the Municipal Library (first erected in 1926 by TPTC) and the implementation of a Community Computer Lab. The project will have four primary objectives:
1. Raising academic achievement among Mirebalais students,
2. Fostering a love for reading and learning that extends beyond the school day and school walls,
3. Extending literacy efforts to include professionals, and the community at large, and
4. Providing technological opportunities to bridge the digital divide in Mirebalais by developing a positive, pervasive, life-long interest in using the resources provided through technology access. Read More
FATEM - COPRODEP MIREBALAIS PARTNERSHIP
FATEM has recently partnered with the Conseil de Projet de Développement Participatif (COPRODEP) in Mirebalais and the Bureau Technique de Coordination Bas Plateau Central (BTC/BPC) to facilitate the execution of two projects that are being funded through the World Bank's Community-Driven Development initiative (CDD).
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with FATEM. As President of this wonderful organization, I can tell you that I feel the greatest joy when I envision how we can make the Mirebalais region regain its beauty by repairing the roads, implementing a computer lab for the community (especially the children), cleaning the streets, creating jobs for its residents, implementing a drop-in center for senior citizens where they can come and spend time together while getting their blood pressure checked.
