MoneyGram Global Giving - A FATEM partner in the support of its tuition assistance program, MoneyGram Global Giving program provides grants annually to non-profit organizations around the globe.
The Boston Foundation Haiti Fund – FATEM is a beneficiary of this fund, which focuses on long-term reconstruction efforts in connection with the January 12th earthquake in Haiti, and also disperses up to 25% for immediate disaster relief. FATEM utilizes its grant to support its teacher training program in the Mirebalais and Artibonite regions.
iEARN is a non-profit organization made up of over 30,000 schools and youth organizations in more than 130 countries; it empowers teachers and young people to work together online using the Internet and other new communications technologies with over 2,000,000 students each day being engaged in collaborative project work worldwide. They already contributed funds towards the construction of kitchens at two of FATEM partner schools.
The Worldwide Vincentian Family - With the assistance of the Worldwide Vincentian Family , and through financial support generated via its partner web portal Zafen.org, we were able to support 1,030 children.
Mateo Oilfield (Alberta, Canada) - Mateo Oilfield's owners, Anna-Marie and Neale Loomis, have pledged since 2008 to provide annual scholarships all the way through high school to a group of thirty of the best performing students from our partner schools. The group is called "Excellence".
Soles 4 Souls – Soles 4 Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and people’s closets. Through our partnership with them thousands of children from the Plateau Central’s area will receive shoes.
Hammock Pointe Elementary School – Based in Boca Raton, Florida, this school contributed several hundreds of books to Mirebalais municipal library.
DevelopingWorldConnections (Canada) - DevelopingWorldConnections (DWC) recruits university students who travel to other countries to lend their time and support to worthy causes in developing countries. In June 2010, fifteen of their volunteers spent a month in Mirebalais to help build benches and blackboards for our partner schools. DWC also provided financial support toward the purchase of the materials.
The World Food Program – Through the Bureau de Nutrition et Développement (BND), the World Food Program supports FATEM school meals initiative. Born in 1962, WFP pursues a vision of the world in which every man, woman and child has access at all times to the food needed for an active and healthy life.

OUR HISTORY
FATEM (Foundation for the Technological and Economic Advancement of Mirebalais) is a Boston, Massachusetts-based 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in April of 2006 by a group of former students who attended school in the town of Mirebalais (Haiti), with the aim to bring education and information technology to the people in that region, thus help the economic advancement of the area.

Thank you for your participation in the FATEM online community and for your support of FATEM's mission.
We self-define ourselves as Haitians who make it our personal and shared responsibility to initiate, promote, and realize positive change in our hometown of Mirebalais and its surroundings. We keep in touch and share our thoughts and fondest hopes for a rebirth in Mirebalais in the Forum and in our local communities. We want to demonstrate that the motto "L'Union Fait La Force" that is inscribed upon our national flag is not merely empty words, but represents a thriving and vibrant spirit that moves through us to foster a powerful and resourceful esprit de corps that successfully and uncompromisingly prosecutes our joint mission of community empowerment and progress. As we learn more from each other and travel together a little bit farther on this journey of personal integrity and shared commitment, we become more than friends; we self-identify each other as brothers, as sisters, as One. Please invite other kindred spirits, friends and families to join us on this journey. Step by step, we press onward.
Affiliated Partners
Mirebalais District of the Rotary Club International – FATEM has joined forces with the Mirebalais district of the Rotary Club International to build the Mirebalais Municipal Library and Technology Center. Through the assistance of a generous donor and the contributions of Mirebalais expatriates living in the Diaspora, FATEM provided a small financial contribution towards the completion of the project.
The Mirebalais Education Project Society in Calgary (Canada) raised awareness and resources for the rebuilding project of the Mirebalais municipal library. In February of 2009, they shipped a 20-foot freight container filled with about 8,000 French language books, learning materials, computers and medical supplies to Mirebalais. In June 2009, they had another fund raising event the proceeds of which were used in a road construction project leading to the community school that is soon to be under construction in the locality of Nicolas. Proceeds from a more recent fundraiser provided scholarship funds, backpacks and school supplies to 400 students.
1000 Jobs/Haiti, Inc. – Through its partnership with 1000 Jobs/Haiti which seeks to create 1,000 decent jobs in the Central Plateau of Haiti within the next few years, FATEM implements its economic development initiatives. Both organizations currently share office space in Mirebalais.
BND – The Bureau de Nutrition et Développement has been providing food services to schools since 2000; they are FATEM’s partner for its meal program which serves a daily warm meal to over 3,000 children.
Project Building Haiti is a New York-based non-profit organization that specializes in coordinating global resources to support diverse adult education projects in Haiti. PBH contributes software and hardware to our English as a Foreign Language (EFL) program.
