New FATEM Programs in the United States

English as a Second Language (ESL)
Back in the summer of 2011, realizing the lack of English programs in the South Shore area - as applicants for said programs were being placed on three- to four-year waiting lists, we decided that it was necessary to offer an ESL program, and we proceeded to call it “English 101 for Newcomers". Given the need for these classes, we have decided to begin offering these courses with assistance from volunteer instructors while waiting for funding for which we continue to apply. Our survey of many residents from the Brockton area revealed a need to make ESL classes available to many Haitians who were arriving in this country following the recent earthquake in Haiti, to help them learn English and be able to integrate the workforce, and to other members of the non-English speaking community of the South Shore region.
Our program will offer three levels (Beginner, Intermediate and Advance) and be taught over a twelve-week period for each level. FATEM will partner with other community-based organizations and faith-based groups in order to provide a comprehensive program to the residents. Our next session will start on May 1, 2012. Classes will be held Monday - Thursday from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at 1 Centre Street in Brockton . Please call (508) 857-0830 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10AM to 5PM, or This email address is being protected from spambots.
